You generally cannot update these boxes via the internet.

  • Power Off the STB: Unplug the 888 box from the wall socket.

  • Insert USB: Plug the prepared USB drive into the box’s USB port.

  • Start the Update Process (varies by model):

  • DO NOT INTERRUPT: The update takes 1–3 minutes. The box may restart automatically. Never unplug power during this phase.

  • First Boot: After updating, perform a Factory Reset (Menu → Installation → Factory Reset). Then run a Full Channel Scan.

    • Plug the USB into your PC. Right-click the drive → Format → File System: FAT32 → Start. This ensures the STB can read the drive.

    If the manufacturer does not provide updates, some community-run repositories aggregate firmware files. Use these at your own risk:
