Batocera is picky. For N64, it prefers .z64 (not .v64). For PSP, it wants .iso or .cso. Always check the Batocera wiki for supported extensions for each core.
PSX, Sega CD, and Neo Geo games will not run without BIOS files. You need scph1001.bin (for PSX) or neogeo.zip (for Neo Geo). Place them in the bios folder on your Batocera share.
Once you have your top-tier ROMs downloaded, getting them into Batocera is incredibly easy:
Your top games will now appear with box art downloaded automatically via the scraper (Press Start > Scraper).

As of late 2024/early 2025, Batocera has added support for Xbox (Original) emulation and improved PS3 performance via RPCS3. The top downloads are shifting toward the 6th generation. Expect to see top lists dominated by Shadow of the Colossus (PS2), Jet Set Radio Future (Xbox), and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GameCube).
