Only .ps2 files work directly. Never rename .max to .ps2.


You need a file ending in .ps2 or .mec. If you download a .max (Action Replay) or .xps (SharkPort) file, you must first convert it using software like PS2 Save Builder or mymc-alpha. If you download a .max, .xps, or .psu file, you must convert it to .ps2.

If you cannot find a clean save file, you can brute force the unlocks using PCSX2’s built-in cheat system. You need a file ending in

  • Enable Cheats in System > Settings > Emulation > Enable Cheats.
  • Play one race. The game will auto-save the unlocked state. Then you can disable the cheats.
  • However, cheats can sometimes cause the game to freeze during the "Post-Race" screen. A clean save file is always safer.
