Every time you print, the Canon G3400 runs a cleaning cycle. The reset buys you time, but the physical pads are finite. To extend the life of your printer:

When you perform a Canon G3400 reset using software, you are only resetting the digital counter. You are not cleaning the physical sponges (waste ink pads) inside the printer.

Realistically, many users skip the pad cleaning for the first 2-3 resets. The G3400 pads are relatively large. However, be prepared for a mess.
