However, for a specific subset of the emulation community, the "official" build wasn't enough. They wanted more shaders, better performance on older hardware, and a darker aesthetic.
Enter Ishiiruka.
Named after the Japanese word for "Dolphin" (Iruka) combined with the developer's handle (Ish), Ishiiruka was a fork of the main Dolphin project. While the official Dolphin emulator prioritized accuracy above all else, Ishiiruka prioritized customization and performance.
