Elmwood University -ep.3- By Wickedware Direct
WickedWare has already confirmed Episode 4, titled "Ash and Ashes," will conclude the first major story arc. Based on the post-credits scene in Episode 3 (yes, there’s a post-credits scene featuring the mysterious "Overseer" talking to an unknown figure), we’re in for a dark, possibly tragic finale. Until then, Episode 3 stands as a shining example of how to evolve an adult visual novel beyond its genre constraints.

Elmwood University - Episode 3: Navigating New Ties and Tough Choices
Elmwood University -Ep.3- By WickedWare is a significant expansion in the ongoing adult visual novel series, continuing the story of Max Walker as he navigates the complex social and romantic landscape of university life. Released publicly in July 2025, this episode deepens character relationships and introduces new mechanics that allow players to further customize their experience. Deepening the Story and Relationships
Episode 3 continues the narrative of Max Walker, a student at Elmwood University who can be played as anything from a "model student" to a "carefree slacker". The episode focuses heavily on the 18 main romanceable characters, each with unique traits and backstories.
Character Progression: Players can now explore more intimate and complex storylines with characters like Lydia Blackburn, the captain of the cheer squad, and Katie Gregg, who is known for her "Romantic" perk.
Social Impact: Your choices have greater consequences in this episode. For instance, entering the hot tub naked can increase a character's "Lust" stat, which is necessary to unlock specific scenes like Lydia's hot tub scene.
Dynamic Reputation: The way you interact with one girl can influence how her closest friends perceive you, making your social strategy more critical than ever. New Gameplay Features and Mechanics
WickedWare has introduced several quality-of-life updates and new systems in Episode 3 to enhance the Ren'Py-based gameplay.
Talent Tree: Players can spend Skill Points to improve their character’s mental, physical, and sexual abilities. This includes "wild abilities," such as a talent to detect when someone is lying. Elmwood University -Ep.3- By WickedWare

Previously on Elmwood University... You discovered that the missing student, Sarah, was last seen entering the restricted section of the Library. After a tense confrontation with the Vice Principal, you found a strange, glowing symbol on your dorm room door. Now, the lights have gone out.
Location: Main Corridor Visuals: The usually pristine hallways are dimly lit by red emergency strobes. Lockers stand open like metal teeth.
Player: "Where is everyone?"
Marcus: "Lockdown protocol. Magnetic seals. If you don't have a faculty keycard, you're stuck in your room until dawn. Unless..."
Player: "Unless what?"
Marcus: "Unless we use the maintenance tunnels. But we need the key from the Janitor’s closet. It’s on the other side of the Courtyard."
(Sound Effect: Distant, skittering sounds. Like claws on tile.)
Player (Internal Monologue): That sound. It’s coming from the vents.
Marcus: "Did you hear that? We need to move. Now." WickedWare has already confirmed Episode 4, titled "Ash
Gameplay Mechanic: Stealth Section (The player must navigate a 2D side-scrolling stealth section. They must hide behind trophy cases and pillars to avoid the "Shadow Wraith" patrolling the hallway.)
For the first time in the series, Elmwood University -Ep.3- features a canonical, unavoidable character death. In an interview with Indie Horror Monthly, lead writer Cassandra Vane stated: “Episode 2 was about the threat of death. Episode 3 is about the aftermath. Someone in your core group will die, and you cannot save them. The game isn’t about preventing tragedy anymore. It’s about choosing how you respond to it.”
This death occurs roughly 90 minutes into the episode, regardless of prior choices. The identity of the victim changes based on your Loyalty scores, but the scene plays out the same way: a broken clock tower, a fall, and the sound of a bell tolling 13 times.
For the uninitiated, Elmwood University follows a transfer student (default name: Alex Raine) who arrives at the prestigious, isolated Elmwood University after a mysterious scholarship offer. The university’s gothic architecture and fog-drenched courtyards hide a horrific secret: the campus exists in a state of temporal flux, where students from the 1970s, 90s, and present day all coexist, trapped by a ritual gone wrong.
By the end of Episode 2, Alex had uncovered the “Bell Theorem Experiment”—an attempt by the occult studies department in 1978 to map the afterlife using a modified quantum computer. The experiment failed, tearing a hole in reality. Now, “Echoes” (ghostly, time-looped versions of students) stalk the halls, and a silent figure in a cracked porcelain mask—known only as “The Registrar”—has begun to take a personal interest in Alex.
Episode 2 ended with a brutal, unavoidable choice: save your sarcastic roommate Jamie from being erased from time, or save Professor Holloway, the one person who knows how to close the rift. No matter what you chose, the screen cut to black with The Registrar whispering, “Attendance is mandatory.”
The indie horror scene has been buzzing for months, but few titles have generated the kind of obsessive fan theorizing and nail-biting anticipation as Elmwood University by WickedWare. Following the cliffhanger ending of Episode 2, which left players staring at a frozen screen of a blood-streaked library corridor, the developer has finally lifted the curtain on Elmwood University -Ep.3- .
If Episode 1 was the slow-burn introduction to a cursed campus and Episode 2 was the descent into tangible terror, Episode 3 promises to be the point of no return. WickedWare, known for their psychological storytelling and “choice fatigue” mechanics (where every dialogue option seems to have a hidden consequence), claims this is the longest entry in the series to date. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s break down everything you need to know.
