Fuufu Ijou%2c Koibito Miman. Chapter 80 · Real & Confirmed

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. Chapter 80. Please read the chapter first before proceeding.

Another month, another emotional gut punch from Kanamaru-sensei. Chapter 80 of Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. has dropped, and while it may not have the explosive drama of the previous few chapters, it serves a critical purpose: psychological reset, raw honesty, and the quiet dread of an inevitable heartbreak.

Here’s our breakdown of Chapter 80.

Jirō, Akari, Shiori, and Tenjin have been dancing around their true feelings for dozens of chapters. The “married couple” practical has long stopped being just a grade — it’s become a pressure cooker of unspoken love, jealousy, and guilt. Chapter 80 picks up right after a major cliffhanger, throwing readers directly into raw, unfiltered character reactions.

Chapter 80 opens not with Jirō, but with Shiori. She is in the library, staring at the empty seat where Jirō used to sit. Her internal monologue is haunting. She realizes she has spent the entire year waiting for someone else to solve her problems. Unlike Akari, who actively fights for what she wants, Shiori admits she always assumed Jirō would wait for her.

She closes her book. "I don't want to be a 'what if,'" she whispers. This is the first sign that Shiori is finally taking agency. fuufu ijou%2C koibito miman. chapter 80

Cut to Jirō, who is failing miserably in his temporary pair with Minami. Minami is frustrated, not at Jirō, but at the system. He slams his fist on the desk.

This is a massive moment of growth. The old Jirō would have stuttered and run away. Chapter 80’s Jirō stands up, thanks Minami, and walks out of the classroom.

Akari is standing on the school rooftop—the same place where the "married couple" photo for their simulation was taken in Volume 1. She is alone, except for Sachi, who gives her a gentle push.

But before she can finish, the roof door slams open. Jirō is standing there, out of breath. Warning: This post contains spoilers for Fuufu Ijou,

Without a single "um" or "actually..." Jirō walks straight up to Akari. He ignores the students gathering at the door. He ignores the teachers shouting. He looks her dead in the eyes.

Jirō: "I don't want to be your 'practice husband' anymore. I don't want to be 'more than a married couple, but not yet lovers.' I want to be your real boyfriend. I love you, Akari Watanabe. Not the simulation. You."

The chapter ends on a double-page spread of Akari’s face—tears streaming down her cheeks—and she smiles the most genuine smile of the entire series.

Final Panel: Akari leaps forward, wrapping her arms around his neck. The text box reads: "Simulation: Failed. Reality: Finally starting."

Chapter 80 picks up almost immediately after Jirou’s confession to Akari that he is "done" with Shiori. For Akari, this is a moment of pure joy, but it is laced with hesitation. She has loved Jirou for a long time, but she fears she is merely the "rebound" or the second choice. This is a massive moment of growth

The chapter spends time internalizing Akari's monologue. She is terrified that Jirou is only turning to her because Shiori rejected him (or rather, because he realized Shiori's manipulative nature). She wants to be his number one, not just the person he settled for.

The mangaka, Yūki Kanamaru, uses silent panels masterfully here. Wide shots of the school at dusk, close-ups on trembling fingers, and characters avoiding eye contact — all build a suffocating yet beautiful tension. The pacing is slower than action-heavy chapters, but it’s intentional. Every pause hurts, and that’s the point.

Chapter 80 of Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman. is a masterpiece of romantic payoff. It takes a trope that has been done a thousand times—the male lead confessing to the female lead—and makes it feel fresh through raw emotional buildup, high-quality art, and a deconstruction of the "indecisive harem protagonist."

If you dropped the manga because Jirō was too frustrating, pick it back up. This is the chapter the fans have been waiting for. The simulation is over. The real love story begins now.

Rating: 9.5/10 (Deducted half a point because we didn't get to see Shiori's full resolution, but saved for Chapter 81.)
