This guide allows you to play the Japan-exclusive God Eater 2 (with the v1.40 update) in full English on your PSP or PC/Android via emulation.

What the patch did:

What the patch could NOT do (at first):

Beyond dialogue, God Eater 2 features a complex array of UI elements—weapon stats, mission briefings, and tutorial images. These are often rasterized images (textures) rather than raw text. Translating these requires graphic editing skills to extract the texture, overlay English text, and re-inject it into the ISO. The V1.40 patch included updates to some of these assets, requiring translators to ensure their graphical swaps aligned with the updated texture files. This is the most stable method to ensure the v1.40 update and English text work together without freezing. What the patch could NOT do (at first):

  • (Optional but Recommended) Integrate the v1.40 update data if you have it. This usually involves dragging the update files into the root of the ISO structure or using the PSP's update mechanism if playing on hardware.
  • Save the ISO. Go to File > Save > Uncompressed (*.iso).
  • Name it: God_Eater_2_v1.40_English.iso.
