Using 7zip or InnoExtract on the SoftPaq, locate the largest file (e.g., 840G5_*.bin). This is a partial image meant to be flashed via HPBIOSUPDREC.exe or F.30 BIOS recovery. It does not include Descriptor or ME regions. hp elitebook 840 g5 bios bin file
Open the bottom cover (5x Torx T5 screws). Remove the battery (tape the connector). Locate the 8-pin SPI flash chip. It is usually near the RAM slots or under a mylar shield. Common chips: flashrom -p ch341a_spi -r bricked_dump
