Jp108 Usb Lan Driver (VALIDATED - 2026)
| Operating System | Native Support? | Recommended Driver | Common Issues |
|----------------|----------------|--------------------|----------------|
| Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7 | Partial (auto-installs generic driver) | ASIX AX88772A v3.x or later | Driver signature errors; old versions cause blue screens |
| Windows XP/Vista | No | ASIX AX88772A v2.x | Manual install required |
| macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon) | Yes (built-in for AX88772) | AppleUSBEthernet (native) | None – plug and play |
| **Linux (kernel 2.6+) ** | Yes | asix or ax88179 module | May need modprobe asix |
| Android | No (unless device has OTG + custom kernel) | Third-party apps (e.g., USB Ethernet) | Unreliable; only specific apps work |
| Chrome OS | Yes | Built-in | May require enabling “USB Ethernet” flag |
| Nintendo Switch | No (fails with “Unsupported device”) | None | Requires specific chipset (AX88179 or RTL8153) |
| PlayStation 4/5 | No | None | Not recognized; Sony whitelists only certain chips |
| Raspberry Pi (Raspbian) | Yes | asix module | Works out of box |
Critical note: Some JP108 units use a fake chip ID. Always verify with
lsusb(Linux) or Device Manager (Windows) – real ASIX VID is0b95, PID7720or772a.
Solution:
.inf.| Metric | Realtek RTL8152B (USB 2.0) | AX88179 (USB 3.0) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Max Throughput | ~95-98 Mbps | ~300-400 Mbps | | CPU Usage (Windows) | Low (2-5%) | Moderate (5-10%) | | Latency Added | <0.5ms | <0.3ms | | Wake-on-LAN | Usually not supported | Supported in some revisions | | Packet Loss @ 100% load | None (with good driver) | None |
Verdict: Acceptable for 100 Mbps Internet connections. Not suitable for gigabit LAN file transfers. Jp108 Usb Lan Driver
Solution:
sudo modprobe -r asix
sudo modprobe asix
sudo ip link set eth1 up
If still fails, check dmesg | grep -i asix – counterfeit chips may need option driver with manual VID/PID override. | Operating System | Native Support
Fix:
System Settings → Energy Saver → Uncheck “Put hard disks to sleep when possible”. Or use a powered USB hub.
