The thermoblock is the component that instantly heats water as it passes through. If an air bubble gets trapped inside, the water cannot flow. The thermoblock then superheats the stagnant air inside, triggering an overheat sensor.
Error 09 on many Krups machines (commonly espresso/coffee makers and steam appliances) indicates a problem with the heating or temperature-sensing system — typically a faulty temperature sensor (thermistor/NTC), a heating element failure, or a communication issue between the sensor and the control board. Symptoms include the machine not heating, stuck heating cycles, or the appliance refusing to start with the code displayed.
