Navigate to your game installation directory. By default, this is usually:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Need for Speed Most Wanted
Find the existing file named speed.exe. Rename it to speed.exe.backup or copy it to a folder named "Originals." Do not skip this step. If the mod fails or causes issues, you need the original file to restore the game.
The original NFS MW discs are now collector’s items (especially the "Black Edition"). Right-click the new speed.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility tab:
Double-click the new speed.exe. The game should launch immediately without asking for a disc. Navigate to your game installation directory
In 2023, EA abandoned the PC version of Most Wanted completely. The "NFS Most Wanted" on modern stores is the Criterion 2012 game (which isn't the same). The abandonware movement has tried to archive the 2005 version, but without a NoCD crack, those archives are useless.

It is important to differentiate this from a "Pirate Crack." The NoCD mod is often used by legitimate owners of the game (who still have their original Black Edition CDs) to simply bypass hardware obsolescence. It does not circumvent the initial installation serial key; it only removes the physical media requirement.
