Prf Weapon May 2026

(Pseudo-Random Frequency / Pulse-Rifle Framework)

Type: Martial Weapon (Firearm or Exotic Ranged)
Damage: 2d4 kinetic (or energy, depending on setting)
Properties: Ammunition (range 80/320), reload (6 shots), special prf weapon

The PRF weapon does not operate on a fixed firing cycle. Instead, each shot randomly shifts its rate of fire and energy output, creating unpredictable damage spikes. PRF is a double-edged sword

When you take the Attack action with a PRF weapon, roll a d6 before each attack roll: making it powerful but unpredictable.

| d6 | Effect | |----|------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | Low Cycle: –2 to the attack roll. On a hit, deal minimum damage. | | 2–3| Standard Cycle: Normal attack. | | 4–5| High Cycle: +1 to the attack roll. On a hit, deal +1d4 damage. | | 6 | Overload Cycle: Advantage on the attack roll. On a hit, deal +2d4 damage, but the weapon overheats. You cannot fire it again until the end of your next turn (unless you use an action to cool it). |

Design note: PRF stands for “Pseudo-Random Frequency” — the weapon’s internal firing mechanism cycles through different resonant modes, making it powerful but unpredictable.

PRF is a double-edged sword. While it enables targeting, it also provides signatures that electronic warfare systems exploit.
