The Apocalypse The album that killed 90s complacency. Recorded in a haunted mansion in the English countryside, OK Computer predicted surveillance capitalism, road rage, and the dehumanization of the digital age before the internet even existed. It is a paranoid, beautiful, sprawling masterpiece that fused Pink Floyd’s space with The Pixies’ aggression.

These seven records are the bedrock of modern art-rock. Each one represents a violent rupture with the past.

The War Record Fueled by anger at the Iraq War and George W. Bush, Hail to the Thief was a return to guitars, but with the electronics grafted onto their bones. In 2019, a hacked trove of 18 MiniDiscs from the OK Computer era leaked. Instead of suing the fans, Radiohead officially released "OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997-2017" (the remastered reissue) followed by the MiniDiscs for charity. These 16 hours of audio include early versions of "Nude" (then called "I Promise") and weird ambient experiments. It is the Rosetta Stone of Radiohead.

Recorded in the same sessions as Kid A, Amnesiac is its gnarled, jazzier twin. More rhythmically complex and with a warmer, more organic feel (by their standards). “Pyramid Song” and “You and Whose Army?” showcase Yorke’s piano-led despair, while “Packt Like Sardines…” brings industrial clatter. Though sometimes overshadowed, Amnesiac has aged into a cult favorite. The Apocalypse The album that killed 90s complacency

At 56 minutes, it’s their longest album, sometimes messy but bursting with rage and melody. “2+2=5,” “There There,” and “A Wolf at the Door” rank among their fiercest work. Key track: “There There”
