Hamidah Top - Scdf Staff Sergeant
Beyond the fires and medical emergencies, Staff Sergeant Hamidah’s greatest legacy may be the NCOs she has produced. Many current Sergeants and Corporals credit their survival and success to her grueling "Rota 2" training cycles.
She is known for the "Hamidah Standard," an unofficial but well-respected physical fitness benchmark. To earn her respect, a firefighter must complete the annual Physical Employment Standard (PES) not just at a pass, but at a gold level.
Her mentorship extends to administrative duties as well. She helps young enlistees adjust to shift work, manage the psychological weight of seeing trauma, and balance family life with the demands of a 24-hour shift.
If you are writing for a formal publication: Please verify the exact full name (Hamidah binte Abdul Hamid is a common placeholder; SCDF has several notable female figures like Senior Warrant Officer Hamidah in the 2010s). If this is for a specific event (e.g., SCDF Women’s Conference or NDP feature), ensure you pull the most recent photo release from SCDF’s official Facebook page or MINDEF’s Cyberpioneer archives.

As of 2025, Staff Sergeant Hamidah is undergoing selection for the Warrant Officer (WO) scheme. If selected, she will become one of the very few female Warrant Officers in SCDF operational history. Her goal is to eventually helm the Civil Defence Academy's NCO training wing.
"I want to build a generation of Sergeants who think," she recently posted on an internal SCDF portal. "I don't need robots who follow orders. I need lions who know when to break the rules to keep Singapore safe."
