Mewtwo is not a port from Melee. Remix devs built him from scratch for the N64 engine.

  • Physics: Floaty but fast air speed. Second-lightest character in the game (tied with Pichu). Notably, Mewtwo lacks a Z-cancel advantage on some aerials – a deliberate balance choice.
  • Beyond the roster, Smash Remix 1.6.0 introduces quality-of-life features that competitive players have begged for since 2001.

Note: The devs have hinted these aren't the only characters in the pipeline. A certain pink puffball from Kirby’s Dream Land 3 was teased in the credits...

Playing 1.6.0 feels like stepping into an alternate timeline where the N64 got a sequel before Melee. The roster now stands at over 25 characters, including: Physics: Floaty but fast air speed

The character design philosophy is strict: No 3D models from later games are ripped. Every character is re-textured and re-rigged to match the N64's low-poly, gouraud-shaded aesthetic. Knuckles in 1.6.0 looks like he was hiding on the cartridge in 1999.

Every stage now has a hazard-off variant (hold L when selecting). This competitive feature was fully stabilized in 1.6.0, including for legacy stages like Hyrule Castle (no tornado, no side platforms moving).
