Their methods were shady, but their collection of movies was unparalleled.

One day, while the crew behind TamilRockers was busy uploading the latest Bollywood hits, they stumbled upon something peculiar. A user had uploaded a link to a movie titled "Alice Through the Looking Glass," but not just any version—it was a highly sought-after, unreleased cut of the film.

The story goes that this cut had been smuggled out of a top-secret screening room in Los Angeles, where it was shown to a select audience for preview purposes. The movie was still weeks away from its official release date.

For every domain shuttered, two more appeared. In 2018, the Chennai Police arrested a few individuals allegedly linked to the site, but the masterminds remained elusive. The site was eventually “declared dead” in 2021, but copies of its library—including Alice Through the Looking Glass—continue to float on peer-to-peer networks.
