In Q3 of 2021, TBA Ta Cheng partnered with three major entertainment platforms: a popular lo-fi streaming channel, a board game revivalist group, and a mixology YouTube series. Each produced exclusive "SoundScapes" for the device—basically, interactive audio environments that changed based on the ambient noise in your room.

This blurred the line between passive entertainment (listening) and active lifestyle (mixing drinks, playing games, hosting).

To understand the phenomenon, we must first break down the nomenclature.

The 2021 iteration was special because it launched just as the world was re-emerging from lockdowns. It promised a return to social gatherings, but on one’s own terms.

The 40 referred to a 40-watt, bi-amplified sound system with a patented "Omni-Sphere" driver. Unlike typical Bluetooth speakers that project sound directionally, the Ta Cheng 40 used the case itself as a resonance chamber. When opened, the lid reflected sound in a 360-degree pattern. Reviewers in 2021 called it "the first party in a box that audiophiles didn't sneer at."
