One of the strongest aspects of this film is the cinematography. If you are watching the 720p BluRay version, you will really appreciate the crisp visuals. The movie was shot digitally, but the lighting design creates a gritty, claustrophobic atmosphere. The morgue feels cold and sterile, contrasting sharply with the visceral violence of the possession scenes.
The "jump scares" are executed with precision. While some horror fans might find them predictable, the sound design makes them effective. The contortionist work done by Kirby Johnson (who plays the possessed Hannah) is genuinely unsettling and adds a layer of physical horror that CGI often fails to capture.
The story follows Megan Reed (played by Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell). Megan is a former cop struggling with PTSD and addiction who takes a job working the graveyard shift at a morgue. She is hoping for a quiet environment to focus on her recovery, but her first night on the job turns into a nightmare when the body of a young woman named Hannah Grace arrives.
Hannah died during a botched exorcism, and her body is badly scarred. As the night progresses, Megan realizes that while Hannah may be dead, the evil inside her is very much alive. Megan must fight to survive against a supernatural force that is hell-bent on continuing its destruction.
