Opening Scene: Mumbai, 2024. Meera Varma (50s) , a former "National Crush" of the 90s, now hosts a dying late-night fitness show. The producer, a slimy young man named Kabir, replaces her with an Instagram influencer mid-show. Humiliated, Meera watches her wax statue from her hit film Aashiqui Ki Raat be melted down for scrap.
The Incident: Driving home drunk, Meera crashes her car. In the hospital, a creepy, whispering intern (a fan of her old work) slips her a USB drive. On it: a slick advertisement for "The Substance." “Change your DNA. Divide your life. Become the best version of yourself.”
