Cause: The FAT32 boot partition was not marked active.
Fix: Boot from a Windows PE USB, run diskpart, select the SD card, then active on the first partition.

If you have ADB access (but not root) and want to trigger an update that looks for the SD Card path:
On your dedicated SD card (let’s say Z:\), create a clean workspace:
