For a permanent, licensed version of Windows 10 in VHD format, Microsoft does not provide a direct download. Instead, the standard—and legal—method is to create your own.
You cannot legally download a pre-activated, licensed Windows 10 VHD from third-party torrent sites. Those files often contain malware, rootkits, or modified system files. The safe path is to build your own in under 30 minutes.

Microsoft provides a VHDX that is already generalized (Sysprepped). It boots straight into the "Out of Box Experience" (OOBE). It includes developer-oriented features like Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), Hyper-V management tools, and Windows Sandbox.
Important: These images are time-bombed. After 90 days, the desktop will turn black, and you will receive activation reminders. They are not licensed for production use or long-term daily driving.
