Standard Windows sends diagnostic data to Microsoft servers. Windows Trust 3 has all telemetry services disabled or removed entirely. No Cortana, no Edge recommendations, no location tracking.

Here’s how to get them:

Windows 3.1 (released 1992) and Windows 3.11 (1993) were not bootable in the modern sense; they ran on top of MS-DOS. A “Windows 3 FR ISO” would typically include DOS + Windows 3.x. Today, these are abandonware but still subject to copyright.

After downloading, you must confirm the ISO has not been tampered with. The official site will provide an SHA-256 checksum.

On Windows (PowerShell):

Get-FileHash -Path C:\Downloads\Windows_Trust_3_FR.iso -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the output with the official hash. If they don't match 100%, delete the file immediately.

After download, compare the SHA-1 hash. For Windows 3.1 French (original floppy-to-ISO conversion), a known good hash example (do not use fake values – check per file) should match community-sourced checksums on the download page.
