By 2010, however, Steam integration killed most casual piracy—until now. The BLiTZKRiEG release taps into nostalgia for the pre-achievement, pre-cloud-save era, when you could mod WA.DAT without Steam overwriting it, and when your weapon roster wasn't tied to a server-side inventory.
