The Zawgyi-One font is a widely used but non-standard font for the Myanmar (Burmese) language. While Windows 10 primarily supports the standard Unicode (such as Pyidaungsu), you can still download and install Zawgyi-One for free on a 64-bit system. Download and Installation Report 1. Run the keyboard installer (often named ZawgyiKb.msi or similar) found in the downloaded package. Open Settings > Time & Language > Language.
Select Burmese (Myanmar) from the language list (add it if not present).
Click Options and then Add a keyboard, choosing the Zawgyi-One or Zawgyi-Myanmar layout. 3. Compatibility and Technical Notes
Standardization: Zawgyi-One is considered "non-standard" compared to Unicode. Modern systems like Windows 10 may default to Unicode, which can cause Zawgyi text to appear "weird" or unreadable if not correctly configured.
Usage Tip: In applications like Microsoft Word, you must manually select "Zawgyi-One" from the font drop-down menu to see the correct characters.
Switching: You can usually toggle between English and Zawgyi typing using Alt + Shift or Windows Key + Space.
To avoid malicious software, always download from trusted sources. Below are three safe options: Direct download filename: ZawgyiOne
Before proceeding, you should know that Zawgyi One is a legacy, non-Unicode font. It is not compliant with international standards. Most modern systems (Android, iOS, Windows 10/11) and websites now use Unicode (Myanmar Text). If you use Zawgyi, your text may appear as garbled boxes or question marks on other people's devices unless they also have Zawgyi installed.

Fix:
Zawgyi is a legacy Burmese font encoding system created in the early 2000s, long before full Unicode support for Myanmar script was widely available. Unlike standard Unicode fonts (such as Myanmar Text, Padauk, or Noto Sans Myanmar), Zawgyi uses a custom encoding scheme where characters and rendering rules are hard-coded into the font itself.
Zawgyi One is the most popular variant of this font family. It is known for its clean, readable appearance and widespread compatibility with older software and websites.
Important Note: Zawgyi is not a standard. It violates Unicode specifications, meaning text written in Zawgyi will appear as gibberish when viewed in a Unicode-only font, and vice versa.
