Unlike standard "interpretative translations" (Tafsiri), which translate entire sentences to convey the general meaning, the Maqdis Quran provides a literal translation of every single Arabic word placed directly below it.

Many Maqdis editions incorporate Tajweed rules (rules of Quranic recitation) into the Arabic script.
